Our Mission

Formed in 1937, the primary goal and mission of the 100 member Beekman Fire Company is to provide fire protection, fire prevention, rescue, and EMS services to the residents of this 37 square mile town. The Beekman Fire Company is united in its mission to save lives and protect property.

Our Company

The Company is made up of 3 squads consisting of the Beekman Engine Company, Beekman Rescue Squad, and the Beekman Fire Police. Each squad has its own line, business officers, and falls under the umbrella of the Beekman Fire Company. Our members respond to all fire, rescue, and medical emergencies. Many members belong to more than one squad which adds to the cooperative strength of the company.

The company also has an Auxiliary whose primary goal is to provide support, relief, and assistance for firefighters at the scene of fires, drills, and other functions. They additionally assist with the raising of funds for the fire company as well as help organize and run events throughout the year.

The Fire Company operates out of 1 station which is located in Poughquag, New York. Based at this station, which was built in 1974, is a 75' Quint Ladder, Rescue Engine, Engine, 2 Tankers, BLS and ALS Certified Ambulances, Utility Truck, and a Brush Truck. The company is also a proud owner of a 1937 Chevrolet Pumper (the companies original pumper) which has been regulated to parades-only duty.

Our company would also like to acknowledge the excellent response provided by our mutual aid companies that provide extra manpower and equipment when called upon.

Our Community

The Town of Beekman is primarily a suburban community of approximately 14,900 residents. The volunteers of the Engine Company, Rescue Squad, Fire Police, and Auxillary give the town countless hours of time through maintaining the fire station, trucks, equipment, and attending weekly drills and meetings. Volunteers also participate in the annual Community Day held at the Beekman Recreation Center, Santa Run, Open House at the Fire Station, community CPR training and Fire Safety Day at Beekman Elementary School.
